Le référencement d’une revue est une évaluation de la recherche et des chercheurs, mais permet aussi d’obtenir des financements dans les établissements de santé publics, selon des points des revues.
Nous ne rentrons pas ici dans le débat houleux sur le bien fondé ou non de cette évaluation, en particulier de par le critère le plus important qui est basé sur la citation des articles dans les autres revues (i.e., la bibliométrie).
Notre père, chercheur lui-même, avait déjà critiqué cela au niveau européen, puisqu’un article peux être cité de nombreuses fois comme exemple d’une recherche qui est à proscrire. Ca côte va donc monter, alors que la qualité scientifique de l’article a été justement mise en cause par d’autres articles.
De même, nous n’allons pas parler de la pression faite sur les chercheurs, en termes du nombre d’articles, dans des revues les plus cotées, qui permettent le financement de leur mêmes recherches et laboratoires. La multitude n’a certainement jamais produit rien d’exceptionnel. Une recherche innovante implique de la réflexion approfondie, donc du temps. Et c’est ce que les chercheurs n’ont plus. C’est comme l’expliquait Prof. Philippe Drucker, au sujet du développement de fortes compétences (voir solides recherches) et de talents qui seul permet de passer « d’une bonne performance à l’excellence », tandis que dans le cas de compétences faibles (voir la multitude d’articles à écrire qui empêche une réflexion approfondie et originale), on passe juste de l’« incompétences à la médiocrité ». Ou comme précise John Ioannidis, c'est l'inutilité de la « technique du salami ».
